Who should attend?

This course is for companies who have operatives who work on or with electrical equipment or tools that are not electrically qualified. This could be in factory, warehouse, office or outdoor environments. The course gives a basic understanding of electricity in the workplace and the dangers associated with it.

Aims & Objectives

Anyone who works in an environment where they could come into contact with or use equipment that uses electricity. This could include trades that work along-side or interact with electrical trades. Examples include, plumbers, plasterers, builders, factory workers, cleaners, office workers, warehouse workers, machine and tool operators, non-electrical operatives that have minor electrical duties.

Programme

• Basic Principles – How Electricity works
• Where Electricity is found – apparatus, appliances, installations, networks, cables – overhead and underground, substations
• The Risks associated with Electricity
• Health and Safety Legislation – including Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
• Safe Systems of Work – RAMS, Permits and Isolation
• Protection against Electric Shock – Earthing, RCD’s
• Protection against over-current and fire – Fuses and MCB’s
• Checking Electrical apparatus and installations for Safety.
